I appreciated Ralph Enlow’s thought provoking meeting with our cabinet. I have been thinking about the things we discussed for years. I have not been able to come to a satisfactory way to define the Bible college over against the liberal arts college. However, below is a recent effort based on the discussion with Dr. Enlow. Everything in the following paragraph could be expanded, particularly the way these characteristics distinguish the Bible college from the liberal arts college. What do you think?
The primary purpose of the Bible College is to educate students for congregational ministries and other vocations that advance the evangelistic and educational mission of the church. The Bible is the foundational text in the Bible College curriculum and is the key to understanding the arts, sciences, and professions. The student life program focuses on spiritual formation. The expected outcomes of the Bible College are graduates with a Biblical worldview, a passion for evangelism, and a practical devotion to Christ, who intentionally use their professions to carry out the Great Commission.
